If you could swap roles with anyone else at Sargood, whose job would you want?
Probably Dave, our Occupational Therapist. There is some very cool assistive technology in the field now, that I wouldn’t mind being able to delve into a little bit.
What advice do you have for first time Sargood guests?
Take your first stay at your own pace, whether you prefer to get out and do activities all week, or relax in the comfort of your room. I do suggest having a chat with our friendly staff and other guests, so you become aware of all the options available to you. Often our guests are pleasantly surprised at the things they are capable of doing, with a little bit of guidance and the right equipment.
What 3 words would you use to describe Sargood?
Relax, explore, engage.
What is your proudest moment at Sargood?
Seeing the joy on someone’s face when they realise that they are able to do things (such as swimming in the ocean), that previously overwhelmed and even scared them.
Where is your favourite travel destination?
Travelling to San Francisco in the US has been my favourite so far.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
Arnold Schwarzenegger is probably most appropriate.
What fact about you would people be surprised to learn?
I really enjoy cooking good food.
What book did you read last?
No good ones for a while, but back when I was in school, the Harry Potter series was my favourite.
What is your favourite food?
I love Mexican food above anything else.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learnt at Sargood so far?
There are very valuable lessons you can learn from anyone and everyone. You just have to be patient and sit back and listen to people’s experiences and thoughts.
What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?
If I enjoyed maths a little more, probably some form of engineering. I enjoy the challenge of problem solving.
You’re happiest when?
I’m out on the water on my kayak, in the surf or just going for a swim.
