Oct 2018: Scuba Diving. Become a certified Open Water diver!

Come to Sargood for an 8 night stay and discover Scuba Diving. The RAIDaptive Course is designed to teach individuals living with a disability to become certified divers including online theory training, pool skills and a minimum of 4 beach dives.

The RAIDaptive Course is designed to teach individuals living with a disability to become certified divers with the goal of using certified RAIDaptive Dive Buddies to compensate for those skills that they cannot independently perform. The student will be certified according to the following designations:

  • Designation 1 (D1) – The student must be able to perform all skills independently with the exception of Entries and Exits
  • Designation 2 (D2) – The student must be able to perform all skills independently with the exception of Entries, Exits, Emergency Ascents, Maintaining Positive Buoyancy at the surface by oral inflation of the BCD
  • Designation 3 (D3) – The student must be able to breathe continuously and monitor gas supply. The student will require assistance with all other aspects of diving.

To become a certified RAIDaptive Open Water diver, the participant’s need to have basic swimming skills, be comfortable in the water, and should be in good overall health, have a mature attitude, sound judgment and self-discipline to follow the guidelines that they will be taught for safe diving.
Medical clearance from a registered diving Doctor is also required.

Please note: you must be living in the community to apply to attend any of the courses run at Sargood on Collaroy. If you are currently an inpatient at a health facility then unfortunately you are not eligible to apply.

icare participants can choose to use 4 of their 28 pre-approved nights at Sargood on Collaroy to attend this course.

NDIS Participants

Royal Rehab is an NDIS accredited provider based in Sydney. NDIS participants may be able to seek assistance to support their stay at Sargood On Collaroy and their participation in this course through the NDIA. Prices listed are based off the NDIS 2017/18 NSW Price Guide CSV.
